American Red Cross - Junior Lifeguard Course

Guardstart develops the knowledge, attitude and skills need to succeed in lifeguard training and enhance effectiveness on the job as a lifeguard. This class focuses on fitness swimming/training and the varying aspects of lifeguarding and water safety. Returning to this program over several summers and throughout the summer reinforces knowledge, skill, strength and confidence in participants making them stronger candidates for Lifeguard Training Course. Fee includes materials. This course does not result in certification. Participants may assist in water safety instruction with our swim lesson program.

GuardStart Notes:
  • All study materials are provided.
  • Completion of course does NOT result in Lifeguard certification. Guardstart is a course that introduces that aspects and responsibilites of Lifeguarding so when/if the participant chooses to take the Lifeguarding Course they will already be familiar with many aspects of the course and job.
  • All participants should bring water to drink, towel, swim suit and a change of clothes.
